Goal B: An Adelphi Education Will Offer Relevance in a Changing World

Objective: Promote Diversity in Personnel, Curriculum, and Services
By recruiting students, faculty members, and administrators from varied backgrounds, Adelphi will infuse its campus and centers with new perspectives and enhance intercultural awareness. Adelphi will provide incentives to support programs and initiatives that promote and value multiple points of view and better accommodate the needs of 21st century students with a global perspective.

I am pleased to announce that our colleague Dr. Perry Greene has taken on additional responsibilities as Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs and Institutional Diversity. Adelphi has long had an affirmative action officer: Lisa S. Araujo, Associate Vice President for Human Resources & Labor Relations holds this post. This new appointment signals that we wish to pursue programming, mutual support and the creation of a campus culture that embraces and goes beyond our commitment to affirmative action. In his new role which includes Institutional Diversity, Dr. Greene will work collaboratively with all stakeholders to advance the University’s mission and goals on issues of diversity, and provide leadership to the campus and support to the Provost on issues related to personnel recruitment, retention and mentoring. He will continue to co-chair the University Diversity Committee, promote diversity-building activities across the University, and work with the Offices of Human Resources and Enrollment Management to enhance recruitment and retention efforts to achieve a diverse workforce and student body.

Associate Provost Greene will continue to serve on the University’s Anti-Harassment Panel and support Esther Goodcuff as Title IX Deputy Coordinator.

I am grateful that Dr. Greene has taken on these responsibilities in addition to those he currently carries, and I thank him for his strong leadership role in helping make diversity a high priority for our community. Please join me in thanking Dr. Greene
